| The
33rd Annual 134 mile Oahu "Perimeter Run " is a documentary
that takes place in 2004. It is the story about the Hawaii Foodbank's
team struggles to get ready for the big relay. Two runners get injured
a month before the race. One runner decides he is too good to be on
the team. Can 3 replacement runners be found before race day? Jacob
Rotich from Eldoret, Kenya, Chad Worthen from Sacramento, California,
and Greg Wenneborg from Tuson, Arizona become the new replacements
and will fly into Hawaii the week before the race. When Mikkel Kleis
from Arhus, Denmark hurts his back and is taken to the emergency room,
it is not looking good for a team of runners from all over the world
about ready to do one of the most demanding races on the planet.
To make matters worse, a tropical storm is moving in to hit the
Hawaiian Islands , bringing heavy rain, flooding roads, causing
mud slids, blowing over power lines and threatening to have the
race cancelled. The weather could also prevent planes from landing
at Honolulu International Airport. A frantic scramble ensues.
Can Hawaii Foodbank's team break the record that has been established
since 1975 by the University of Hawaii Chargers? The time to beat
will be 12 hours 11 minutes and 30 seconds. Neither the rainy night,
muddy trails, windy roads, missed handoffs, or personal challenges
can stop the Hawaii Foodbank team from going for the course record!
Follow the team around the island of Oahu as you experience the
beautiful sites that exist only in Hawaii.
